Villagers in Weihai, a city sitting on the easternmost tip of China’s coastline, tend to visit their local buddha statue on the Chinese new year’s day. Payers of peasants, fishermen and tourists like myself came early hoping to be the first ones blessed by the sea god. Whether superstition or tradition, kids are certainly having fun.
